They do not care about hypocrisy, about consistency, about facts, about truth.
They care about power.
They will say anything, believe anything, and do anything that gains more power for themselves or takes it away from others. Doing “gotcha” questions and logic-dunking on them doesn’t work, because they don’t care about being right, they care about having power. They engage in hypocrisy on purpose, as an act of domination over the fools who believe in things like truth and principles and integrity. Their willingness to override reality gives them power over people who believe reality matters. Trying to debate them is pointless. The only winning move is not to play. Shut them down and shut them out at every opportunity.
Only way to save queer people in America is by killing the intolerant and I'm not kidding being hyperbolic or lying to you, violence solves problems, if it didn't we would not be here at all to be fighting back, throw a brick, not a word. Words fall flat on the deaf, they'll notice the bricks and bullets though.

read this thread. this is by far the most concise explanation of a lot of different issues that i’ve seen in fandom spaces in a while. cosigning both the linked thread and the thread about aus/uk/can law that’s linked in-thread.
If someone has never taken a class that includes copyright law, they may not know this stuff, so I don’t necessarily blame random people for not knowing what copyright is, but like… maybe just maybe it’s something that should be taught????
something else i've been thinking about lately is how much more alive houses are to people who experience domestic abuse. some things in the house are protectors - the door to your room that swings shut behind you without you pushing it, the stairs that always creak loud enough to let you know that someone's coming before they get there... whereas other things are alive with malice - the cabinets that slam and the dishes that break, the vacuum cleaner that always manages to sound angry and accusing. the whole house listens, and the whole house remembers, and everything takes sides.
anyway in the alternate universe where i'm a children's book author i'm writing a story about a child who lives in a house that protects them, whose floors swallow up the sound of their footsteps and whose doors lock without prompting, putting space between them and anyone who wishes them harm. the curtains open their arms when they need a place to hide, and no one can find them when they don't want to be found, because the house won't let it happen.
